Opt Out of Bulk WHOIS & Modify WHOIS Contacts

  • Decide which Administrative or Technical contacts you want to appear in the public WHOIS database. You will need either the Network Solutions User ID or e-mail address for these contacts.
  • Log in to your Network Solutions account.

To Opt out of Bulk WHOIS

  1. Click Edit User Info in the left menu.
  2. Scroll to the bottom of the page.
  3. Select No for the first statement, which reads:
    “I choose to have my name included in the Bulk WHOIS data licensed to third parties for domains for which I am the Account Holder or Primary Contact.”
  4. Click Save. You have now opted out of Bulk WHOIS.

To Modify your WHOIS contact information

  1. Click Edit Account Contacts from the left-hand navigation. If you have more than one account, select an account, and click Edit Contacts.
  2. On the Edit Account Contacts page, in the Edit WHOIS Contacts section, click View/Edit WHOIS Contacts. The page displays your WHOIS Administrative Contact, WHOIS Technical Contact, and Account Holder for each domain name in the account.
  3. To assign different WHOIS contacts, select the domain(s) to edit and click Continue.
  4. You can assign the WHOIS Administrative Contact, the WHOIS Technical Contact, or both contacts at the same time. Select an option and click Continue.
  5. You can assign yourself as the WHOIS Contact, to someone else who already has access to the account, to other individuals with a valid NIC handle or user ID. Select an option and click Continue (Create a new User - If you want to assign someone who does not have a User ID, or want to create alternate contact information for yourself using a valid e-mail address, at the bottom of the page, click Create a new user. You will be asked to log out in order to create a user profile on the system. Click Log Out. Create a User ID, password and click Save. Enter the user's contact information and click Save. Log back in to finish assigning WHOIS contacts.)
    • If you select yourself, you will see on-screen information.
    • If you selected someone else who already has access to the account, select the person and click Save.
    • If you selected someone else using a NIC handle, enter the NIC handle information and click Continue.
    • If you selected someone else a User ID, enter the User ID information and click Continue.

      Important
    • If WHOIS Administrative and Technical contacts are not specified, Network Solutions will list your Account Administrative Contact and Account Technical Contact as your WHOIS contacts.
